MANCHESTER, KENNEBEC COUNTY, MAINE

On August 12, 1850 the towns of
Augusta, Hallowell, Litchfield, Readfield and Winthrop
set off land to be incorporated as the town of Kennebec.
On April 15, 1854 the name of this newly incorporated town was changed to Manchester.
Manchester sits on the western border of Maine's capital city, Augusta.
The current population is about 2,400 and it covers an area of 21 square miles.
Cobbosseeconte Lake (called Great Pond by the early settlers) falls partially within Manchester's borders.
